The Engineer III designs and supervises construction projects such as airports, bridges, channels, dams, railroads, and roads.  Responsible for design, development, implementation, and analysis of technical products and systems.


Including but not limited to:

  • Estimates costs related to personnel, equipment, and material needs
  • Oversees submittals, quantities, subcontractor operations, and general scheduling
  • Overall responsibility for job cost
  • Accurately identifies and consistently incorporates key design requirements in product and process development
  • Develops and maintains clear product, process, and material specifications
  • Recommends alterations to development and design to improve quality of products and/or procedures
  • Integrates diverse or complex data into productive ideas
  • Makes decisions and selects appropriate solutions after reviewing all appropriate data
  • Performs a variety of complicated tasks
  • Monitors project quantities to track costs and prepares payment estimates
  • Liaison to field supervision, including internal superintendents and foremen, as well as those of subcontractors
  • Carries out job duties while maintaining Lane values
  • Other duties as assigned




  • BS in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of experience as a construction field engineer
  • Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel and Word
  • JDEdwards and Primavera experience strongly preferred
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures of heavy highway construction
  • Utilizes experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
